340 Children in Need Get Free Childspree - The Salvation Army helps kids get ready for school
TEMECULA, Calif. (August 4, 2016) – The Salvation Army Corps Community Center in Southwest Riverside is taking a total of 340 kids on a Childspree – a shopping spree to prepare them for school.

Each child will receive a $125 gift card to JCPenney to purchase clothes, shoes and undergarments. Students will also receive a new backpack full of school supplies from Costco. McDonalds will be on site provide students with breakfast sandwiches and orange juice.
“We know that going back to a new school year is hard, especially when you don’t have basic things like clothes that fit,” says Major Jerry Esqueda, Administrator and Pastor of The Salvation Army Murrieta Corps. “We aim to help eliminate that problem by supplying children with everything they need.”
Over 200 volunteers will take the children through the store to help them purchase items.
This event is organized by the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army Corps Community Center in Murrieta. Donations for the JCPenney gift cards came from the Advisory Board, Murrieta, Rotary Club of Temecula, and Pechanga Resort and Casino.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from our Advisory Board and volunteers,” says Esqueda. “We couldn’t do this without them.
